Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky, lovingly known as “The Great One,” has sold a Thousand Oaks, CA, estate in an off-market deal, says the Los Angeles Times.
The 8,711-square-foot house has been on and off the market since it was initially listed for $10.5 million in January 2014. Gretzky, who paid $2.76 for the property through a blind trust in 2009, drastically cut his original asking price to secure a deal. According the property record, the home’s sale closed on Jan. 4 for nearly $6 million.
The buyer is Trixy Weiss, co-founder of Genesis Capital, an Atlanta-based investment banking firm, according to Engel & Völkers, the real estate brokers who represented Gretzky.

The five-bedroom, six-bath property, located in the Sherwood Country Club, features coffered ceilings, paneled walls, built-up moldings and trim, and distressed wood floors. The master bedroom and family, living, and dining rooms all feature fireplaces with ornate mantels. A white kitchen opens to an eating area, which leads to a backyard pool and spa. There’s also a complete kitchen in the backyard.
Gretzky, 55, has apparently enjoyed his time in the Sherwood Country Club, where he is building a new home.
