As inventory drops, January home prices rise in Buffalo market

Coming off a stellar 2016, single-family home sales ticked higher in January while a tight supply helped drive prices higher. Closed sales totaled 789 compared to 786 a year ago, an increase of 0.4 percent, according to the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors. For sellers, median prices rose 6.7 percent to $128,000 last month, up from $120,000. The average sales price came in at $143,268, up 2.7 percent from $139,466 last year.
